After reading the segment written by Nancy Fraser, it has really opened my eyes to see how there are different concepts with in the public sphere. One of the main segments that Fraser argues about is how Politics can really impact how people view others. How there are still a numerous amount of arguments that can be determined just by viewing if one is a liberal or if one is a conservative. Many people believe that therte should only be one form of a public sphere in society. Much of the contraversey that goes on in society that still bothers me today is how there are still gender differences between males and females. In order for society today to understand each other and live a life in peace, gender inequality needs to go away. As Fraser dezcribed throughout her article, many of the cultures and politics based around and in the public sphere are caused by gender inequality. There shouldn't be a gender a struggle between

While reading the specific pages that was assigned for homework, there were many different things that I learned about radio broadcast and podcast. The first thing that I learned about while reading was in the beginning when they were trying to figure out a story to write about and ended up going to some town in Kansas. This was important because since nobody would know where this town was unless they lived in Kansas, people would be intrigued in finding out why the radio is being broadcasted there and would attract listeners because that is what the news are for. The second thing i learned is that as a reporter, you should be the on controlling what is being said. Yes, you want to ask about their day and what not but your listeners want the meat of the story and want to know the big news so as it is good to get your interviewer comftorable, it is still your purpose to bring the news because that is your job. The third thing I learned from the reading is maintaining what the viewers want. No viewer wants to know what the diner down the street is serving today but they want to know about the local shooting that occurred today.

Throughout telling my story of "I am From," I dealt with the problem of getting a little too personal which I don't mind getting but end up almost getting a little emotional when reading my poem to all. Writing this poem allowed me to dig deep into my history and find out where i actually came from. This poem made me realize that I should be proud for where I am today with the life I have lived so far. I decided to write out what I did because I believe that things happen for a reason and whether that be being raised by a single mother or going through a family divorce in my case, I'm comftorable sharing where I have come from. My life may of not sound like the picture perfect story but it has made me into the person I am today and I am proud of it.

The first of the few questions that I would ask Sana is how have you been able to manage your school work with both your situation that you are experiencing with your family and the numerous amount of refugee campaigns you are a part of.

I would then ask both Sana and Chanda about how coming from a different country has changed the way you live your life now in America.

I would ask how they feel if there are people in the room if they are say aginst what your views are or if there are people that agree with you and if your mood changes.

Overall, the experience to have the opportunity to take notes and listen to the stories of Sana and Chanda was just an amazing experience not only for this class but as an overall total experience. There was a whole lot that I dint know about the Cambodian genocide that really opened my eyes. One thing that I will take into account from this experience is how honest and open they were to our class when asked questions. After hearing their answers I know to be open during my interviews and be passionate about talking to my interviewer because if I am as passionate towards their story as I am to mine, then the person being interviewed will respect me more then any ordinary person asking questions. Another thing I will take away from this opportunity is that even though my story may not be as serious or impactful as what our interviewers have experienced to still be passionate about what we talk about and how we should be proud of our story rather than not be proud because me myself haven't gone through the life as a refugee. As well both said to make some small talk in the beginning or at some point in the story to lighten the mood of the interview.

Overall, the feedback I received from both Emmett and Megan were very positive with little to no changes needed. One of the suggestions that I received was to possibly change the background music to something with my heritage as I mention my ethnicity a good amount throughout the audio bio. As well I may also add onto what I already have to make the bio a little longer since it was shorter then normal.

For this chapter in Out on the Wire, I didn't really read this chapter which is a shame on me I only skimmed it briefly but if I was to guess why sound is considered to be metaphorized as the "Deep Sea", I would say that is because with the sea or an ocean, the sound that comes with it is soothing and relaxing which lures people to listen and really think. Sound in general for anything else in this world is supposed to make you pay attention more to a video or anything really because when there is no sound, it is harder for someone to concentrate on that task or situation and the "Deep Sea", as they refer sound as really gets one to think and use their head.

An edit is when a producer reads a draft of a story out loud and colleagues or other employees critique on it. These are typically meetings and can be small as of three people to almost up to 12 editors in the room as well as people via webcam can be involved if they aren't available. After the topic is discussed the panel of editors have the opportunity to mention what they like, what they don’t like and what needs to be updated or added into the piece.  Framing  is important because they give stories a better idea in a more abstract and brightening way. Makes stories not boring. Signpostings are basically previews or words not through actually talking that portray a story. They make the viewers actually think about how one would interpret a story when someone isn't actually talking or speaking. For actual on script wise, it is important to emphasize when talking about an object that doesn't speak in order for the reader to get a feeling of what they are actually reading. An example would be when an editor is writing about the emphasizes of a baseball bat, they would describe the bat or even add a sound noise when swung in order to get the reader to portray that specific object. Overall helps the viewer navigate throughout the story.

1. The feedback that was given to our group for our second rough draft presentation was very helpful for our group to figure out what can stay the same and what needs to change in the video. Each and every review for the video all understood the plot and the reason that the video was aiming to hit. Pretty much all of the reviews said the pace was perfect or good as it is and there is no need to change up the pace of the story. The main feedback that seems to be needing to lower the volume of the music as well as making sure the music goes the duration of the video.

2. For my outside viewer, i chose my roommate because when i was doing my homework, he was the only one around and agreed to watch the video without knowing anything previously. What my roommate got from this video was a women who talks about her life as a first generation american in which she is promoting her organization. He was confused only on  why i was showing him this video but not on the actual video itself. He, like the feedback we got from our class said to change up the music situation as well as possibly adding text to reveal the questions being asked in the video.

Oral history is basically the same thing as normal history which is the facts and events of a specific person, event, or time period from before the current date. The twist when the word oral is put into this word is basically telling this story or facts on someone or something through word of mouth instead of words. When describing oral history as, "a co-constructed process of narrative composition", what i see from this is putting this brief of history in your own words while showing your emotion. This is because depending on how passionate of a reader you are and depending on the topic of choice that you are talking about, one may consider this as a for of narration because one is putting this history in your own words by how you see it. The word "map coherence" on the "disorder of lived experience" basically means you are the one putting yourself in place during the time period of this history that is being talked about. What i get from these questions as it relates to our Quest for Refuge project is whether or not the viewer and or listener can basically out themselves in our interviewers shoes just for a second just to see how they lived their lives.

Part 2

What the Olive Project has taught me and allowed me to understand about multimodal writing is that the best way to tell a story or history while using this type of writing is break the story up into segments while showing both visual and audio motions to the viewer. You don't want to overdue your main about page on what is going to be said during your piece but with multimodal you are basically telling a story through numerous different segments and moments. This specific project allows me to think about writing for public audiences because in this case I am the audience and with he layout of the different sound bites and photographs that tell the life story of Olive, it has allowed me to understand the full history of Olive in just a short amount of time.

This project allows me to know that if I was to represent someones life, I am going to show it to them in the best way possible. I am not going to be bragging about all he or she accomplished in life making it sound like I'm bragging but to show their life in a way one would smile in the end or understand the struggles one went through by basically making them feel like they are in their shoes. This project has allowed me to understand how Olive has in fact lived her life. She may of not been a Donald Trump who turns from a celebrity to the next president elect, but her life has been live to fullest extent and is the way she wanted it to be and thats what i personally got from the story itself.

Throughout the whole process of the project from the filming to the actual editing and figuring out what to incorporate into the video and what not to incorporate to the video was intense but overall successful. I myself as well as Anthony and Rebekah helped determine what the plot of the video should be and what the message should be to the viewers. I personally couldn't help as much with the editing and some of the final decisions in the video due to a family emergency in which I had to miss two classes, and iMovie not working for me but the editing that Rebekah and Anthony have done has really been excellent. The one part of the video that pleases me the most is the transition and really the flow of the video. There wasn't really much disappointing me throughout the video other then wishing we had more time to possibly film Chanravy a little more. If i was able to do this project all over again the one thing i first would do is get a laptop that is capable to handle iMovie because not having this software really didn't allow me to put in the editing work Anthony and Rebekah did. The other thing i would do if i had the opportunity to do this project again is get some more info and shots to incorporate. I know it took awhile for 1Love to email us back about some approvals with the video but it was all fine in the end.

1. Given the reflections that I have seen today, I admired the work that Dani and Emmett have done and has allowed me to change the way some of the work I have put into my final reflection and incorporate some of the elements that they have done such as explaining more of the actual outcome that we learned from the overall class as a whole. I can now say that I need to incorporate more of an outcome that I have gained in the process and the overall success when relating to the Quest for Refuge project.

2. My plan for moving forward is to defiantly incorporate more of a reflection and the outcome that I have gained from the class as a whole. I still would need to accomplish including the Quest for Refuge mission and project in general more efficiently and efficiently state what I have learned from this class.  The way I will go about it is to review the course outcomes form the syllabus and include what was on there into my final piece.
